Instagram crazy!

While sitting around generally being a bit bored I decided to whip out my iPhone and get a bit snap happy round the house! Then go a bit instagram crazy! 😃 Here are some of them!

I love taking photos but pretty much just rely on my iPhone now, I love the freedom it gives me and of course, the ability to edit! I think I like to think I'm much better than I actually am, but I always think its better to do something that makes you happy!

March already!

Well, it's march already! Cannot believe how quickly time has gone since New Year! So far I've managed to move 260 miles back up north, move roles to a new department with work and somehow generally loose two months!

Work:
I work in the heritage industry and while this blog has nothing to do with work and never will have, I do have to say I have been to see some fantastic places over the last few weeks and it has totally reinvigorated my love of wonderful historic places! I'm fortunate to be able to do a job that has such a positive impact on the future of all these places, which means every day when I get up and go to work I know I'm doing all I can to ensure they will stay this way and be there for future generations to enjoy! It definitely gives me a warm fuzzy feeling 😃 I also have the pleasure of working with a whole network of lovely, if slightly crazy, people, who I always miss when I'm not working round here! Had a great night out having the strangest conversations with these guys and loving every minute of it!

Ups and Downs:
It's fantastic being back up here, I get to see the family whenever I want and spend time with my friends as well as doing a job I really enjoy! I also got to babysit my lovely little nephew, such a cheeky wee monkey who spent the evening eyeing up my pizza then looking like a little sleepy angel, being back here means I'll be able to do this more often!
The only downside is living in the countryside for a while! I never really realised how much of a city girl I am but when you add up 12 miles to the nearest shop, having to light proper fires ever day just to stay warm, crazy animals in the road and huge spiders, you could say I'm not enjoying my country retreat as much as I should! In fact my worst moment so far has been moving my fringe from it tickling my head only to find it was actually a MASSIVE spider on my head! horrific moment of screaming and running away! Still in the next few weeks it will be all move again back into Carlisle!

Being lazy!:
I've been watching loads of films, new tv and reading lots of books this month, I'm a big fan of films, which is why I was sad to hear about HMV and am hopeful ours stays! I won't buy new release from them, because its always cheaper elsewhere, but I do often spend a fair bit of money just browsing for films to watch on my days off. I do think its sad that high street can't compete with online stores and supermarkets, but honestly even if I wasn't trying to live on a budget, I still wouldn't have bought skyfall for £13 when I know I can get it for a tenner at Asda or Tesco? I really think someone needs to have a good hard look at all high street stores business models!

Films:
Loved skyfall, friends with benefits, resident evil and sucker punch! Didn't like friends with kids so much, Christopher O'Dowd should never attempt an American accent.... Ever!! Oh I also came home from York on the "skyfall train" (pic attached) pretty impressive, what was even better was waiting at Newcastle for my next train and hearing the skyfall train playing the iconic Bond music! Surreal but fun!

TV:
Well mainly the Tudors, I didn't watch it first time around so bought the complete box set and became totally obsessed! Even though I know the story very well it was still pretty cool if a little historically out! I'm also watching Nashville, the New Normal and new Bones, True Blood and walking dead!

Books: the last couple of months have been an orgy of cheap/free kindle books! I'm really enjoying the Anthony Horowitz power of five books, they might be kids books but still a really good read! Most of the others I've read have been easy reads but keep me entertained!

Friends: the other great thing about being up here is being able to see my friends. We had a lovely (if somewhat short due to early morning trains for me) dinner with the girls, it's something we really need to do more often and I intend to get everyone together more! I'm currently working weekends, so the fact I have friends on maternity leave is great, not only do I get to go play with their little ones I also get loads of time to catch up with Mummies! I even managed to fit in a far too brief visit to York to catch up with someone else I don't see enough!

I don't have much planned for March, besides more of the above, but I will be heading off to a photography exhibition at Watchtree Nature Reserve just outside of Carlisle. It's an exhibition of photos taken by the iphoneography Facebook group, from weekly challenge winners, should be amazing! The group is great too, I sometimes like to think I'm creative or a good photographer so this group kind of pushes me to look at things differently and really think about my surroundings!

Now to work out how to attach photos! 😃

Oops!

Well Happy New Year!

Having tried and failed to blog last year my resolution is to try more this year!! Especially having read over my Alps blog and remembered all these crazy little details, so 2013 the year of the blog!

2012 the highlights...
Bit of a crazy year, started surrounded by snow, living in one of the most beautiful places in the world and ended at a chilled out house party with my best mates in a slightly soggy Cumbria! It's funny how things change, plan was to be back in France but jobs come up and priorities change and here I am!
Best bits included:
• my wonderful nephew arriving and watching him grow into an awesome little 7 month old
• my best friends lovely little boy making an appearance at the same time as they moved back from the south
• a fantastic week with the family in St Ives (a whole week with my nephew, crazy high tides, good food and fun)
• travelling round working different events over the summer, meeting amazing new colleagues
• working next door to the Kurt Geiger outlet shop (bought some fabulous new shoes this year!) and getting my iPad

I know there were more, it's been a pretty good year all in all!

That said I think 2013 will be even better, so many things to look forward too:
• moving back to Carlisle and hopefully a new job
• more fun times with the family and friends

I've added a couple of pics from 2012, need to find more but I've just changed to an iPhone 5 (soooo excited about that!) and need to reload my pics!

So that's it really, who knows what this year will bring for everyone, Hope its a happy one for all of you xx

Hello!

Hi and welcome to my new blog..... I decided to keep my blog from my winter season separate because that is much more a record of the amazing times I have while working in the Alps. So here is my shiny new blog dedicated to things I like and places I love :-) I'm very lucky to work in some of my favourite places along Hadrians Wall and to be able to visit other lovely sites in England, so I guess there will be photos of all kinds of different places over the summer! I have many many different things I like.... Snow, books, films, make up, cool hair, cars.... All sorts so I guess this blog could have anything posted on it :-)I'm also hoping that having my blog will spur me on to try some of the creative crafty things I used to do... Good excuse to show off hehe!
